Christmas carols and songs; a surefire sign that Christmas is near.  A sign that it’s time to start thinking of how we will celebrate over the Christmas period.  A sign that it’s time to start buying presents to give to loved ones and thinking about what food we will be cooking to share with those who we are celebrating with.  A sign that “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”.

Ok, ok, I’ll stop singing now!

Sadly, for around 200 children and teenagers, Christmas is not a happy and festive time.  Sadly, for these 200 children and teenagers, they will not be spending Christmas with loved ones or a family who cares for them.  Sadly, for these 200 children and teenagers, they will be spending Christmas in emergency crisis accommodation (such as a motel) and will be supervised by a rostered case worker.  Sadly, for these poor children and teenagers, Christmas is just another day for them; nothing special.

This information saddened us terribly and we knew we needed to make a difference, hence our annual Christmas Drive!  We work hard each year to fundraise and engage with the community to source donations of toys, books, perfume, make up, cologne sets, puzzles, board games, movie passes, vouchers for activities like the zoo, rock climbing, Featherdale Farm, bowling, laser tag, and other fun school holiday activities. We also seek cash donations to assist with purchasing gifts and delivery costs.

We want to bring a smile and some Christmas spirit to those 200 children and teenagers who need it most.  We want them to experience the joy of opening presents on Christmas Day and knowing that those special gifts are just for them.
